Idea Space

Here's where I'll keep my ideas. If I write them on scraps of paper or try to memorize them, they'll just get lost.

Matt Coleman, in one of his Black Dog stories, has the devil explaining that the reason there are so many monsters roaming the earth is that Hell is just to full of humans.

Pip is going to meet a fellow named Coleman who offers this as a zombie explanation.

Here's the problem. Pip leaves England in 1829. He MUST be in Texas in 1836 and he has to be back in England in 1841. So he has 7 years to get to Texas and 5 years to bet back to England. The problem is that, geographically speaking, there's no logical route to take that will drag out those first 7 years... all the stops are in the second 5 years.

I think I may have figured it out:

1829 - Pip leaves England with Magwitch's ashes. He plans to stop in on Herbert who is in Cairo, then make his way to New South Wales. Herbert tells Pip that Zombies from the South are creating quite a stir in South America and may be headed towards Texas.

1831 - Pip changes his plans and heads to the U.S.

1832 - Roanoke, Virginia

1833 - Hannibal, Missouri

1834 - New Orleans, Louisianna

1836 - San Antonio, Texas

1837 - New South Wales, Australia

1839 - South Africa

1840 - Cairo, Egypt

1841 - Back in England

The events that take place in Africa are what influence him later to keep his story secret.
